In the mid to late 1960's I operated one of these. The Linotype set type incredibly fast, compared to hand-setting, but it took a huge amount of maintenance.
There was also the downside of handling lead and cancer-causing solvents, all while smoking cigarettes and having a couple of beers with lunch. Somehow I survived.
